Tonnie Kaspers, Markelo

Tonnie Kaspers lives in the beautiful Markelo in Twente, in the center of this beautiful village. He is married to Rina and together they have a daughter and a son who both live in the parental home. Tonnie came into contact with the pigeon sport in Enschede by his father and uncle at the age of eight. We can say that he has a lot of space in Markelo to practice his sport. There is more than enough room for a 35m loft and he has only used a small percentage of his backyard.

After a time-out of 4 years he picked up the pigeonsport again in 2012 and Tonnie focused completely on the overnight long distance after his restart. Two people played an important role in the excellent performance of Tonnie’s pigeons: Dennis Borkent who gave him the push to start again and Jelle Jellema, his running- and pigeonmate.

Our protagonist has therefore only been active on the overnight long distance since 2013. Up to and including 2017, an average of 3 marathon flights per year were participated. Due to Tonnie’s health problems, he did not basket his pigeons in the past year, but in 2019 he will again compete with his pigeons!

A friendship with Jelle Jellema has arisen in recent years and often thoughts and pigeons have been exchanged. Through this friendship, children from Jelle’s best pigeons moved to Markelo every year. Tonnie thus has pigeons from:

“Jack” 3rd National Ace Pigeon Perpignan 2015-2017, 3rd National Ace Pigeon Barcelona 2016-2018, 6 National St.Vincent
