Antoon van der Wegen will remain in history one of the greatest marathonpigeon fanciers of all time, his pigeons won everything possible for him and since decades many of the current top pigeons have van der Wegen blood.
Claudiu Roman had the opportunity to meet Antoon & Luci van der Wegen and visited them dozens of times and brought many pigeons to his loft in Romania. Probably at the present time he owns the most exclusive colony of original Van der Wegen pigeons in the world, which he will try to keep pure in years to come. For this, Claudiu did DNA tests on all the pigeons that enter the breedinglofts in order to have zero doubts on the purity of pigeons and their top descendants, with Antoon en Lucy van der Wegen blood.
