Combination Smeets-Penris

Two beautiful silver medals won by the combinatie Robin Smeets and Piet Penris in the grueling ZLU season of 2018! At Marseille they win the 2nd National and 2nd International and at Barcelona they also win a silver medal in the prestigious GOUDEN ASDUIF ranking. These prizes were won by two incredibly good pigeons, the standard bearers of their strong long distance loft which is in the backyard of Robin’s (step) parents Penris, living in Urmond, Limburg.

Robin Smeets and Piet Penris have been playing very well for years and often belong in the wide region to the beating men on the program flights that they participated to this year. As of the 2019 season, however, they will only focus on the marathon and in particular the ZLU. Robin is busy renovating a beautiful house where he and his wife and children will live from the first months of the new year. Obviously there will be a super nice loft in the backyard from where Robin will participate in the ZLU competition. But that is for 2019. First back to the last season.

The basis of the last successful season (and the top season the year before in 2017) is somewhere around the beginning of this century. As a teenager, Robin had some pigeons and Piet became more and more involved with the hobby of his son. From 2009 the men started to clock early pigeons on the long distance races, where a very nice result at Provincial Periqueux (morning release) gave the energy to continue on the marathon: 36, 84, 109 and 318 (only 4 pigeons basketted) against 3.620 Provincial pigeons on their debut gave a huge boost.

The basis of their beautiful debut result and the basis of the current successes lies in Neer. In 2004 Robin went to the famous brothers from Neer and Piet and Andre Kuypers found the youthful enthusiasm of the then 16-year-old Limburger so heart-warming that Robin had 4 youngsters of the noblest origin! Two of these Kuypers pigeons are the current stock pigeons, stating that the “Oude Kuypers van 2004” became the foundation breeder of their colony. At the age of 14 this pigeon is still very fresh and fruity and still fertilizes everything. Incidentally, we rarely had such a beautiful, breedy pigeon in our hands! An incredible top pigeon is that old Kuypers crack!

He is the father of Avatar, the 2nd Gouden Barcelona pigeon in 3 years. Avatar won the 51st National Barcelona in 2016, 115th National Barcelona in 2017 and 227th National Barcelona in 2018 and won the silver spot in the NATIONAL GOUDEN ASDUIF ranking.

His nest sister, the second Gebr. Kuypers pigeon from 2004 which has made a big mark on the Smeets-Penris colony, is the basis of the 2nd International Marseille 2018. This super cock, Bennie Batman flew in 2016 and 2017 already the 272th and 263rd prize National of Marseille and with the 2nd National in 2018 he became the 6th National Ace pigeon Marseille over 3 years and flew the second International last season.
