Gebroeders Limburg – Zuidveen

Gebroeders (Brothers) Limburg, the famous marathon pigeonfanciers from the north(east)ern part of The Netherlands, started their extreme long distance carreer in 1991 with a phenomenal result on National Sint Vincent: 3rd National and 6/7 on the resultsheet! In the years that followed, John & Gerard were constantly chasing for the best pigeons to enrich and strenghten their breedingloft particularly for this discipline. Among others, the best pigeons came from Martha van Geel, Cees de Jong (Lepelstraat- the van der Wegens from Antoon and Lucy), a few Jan Theelen pigeons and from Belgium also a few (red) Jos Hermans pigeons (also the basic pigeons from Jan Theelen have much Hermans blood). John was also hit by the pigeon bug 🙂 at that time and it happened that they started racing pigeons under the name of Gebroeders Limburg.

Over the years, a great strain of pigeons has been built with pigeons from the the above mentioned people. Innumerable championships and teletext prizes were won by the brothers and they became part of the VERY BEST marathon fanciers in The Netherlands. The best thing about the last few years was that 6 times a category and 3 times the Total Championship in the National Fondspiegel was won! No one did better !! In total they won 11 marathon flights in their department 11, Friesland ’96 or National sector 4 and the Gebroeders Limburg were classified more than 70 times in the first 10 on Teletext. What certainly should not be left unmentioned is that many (!!) other top fanciers at home and abroad have also discovered this excellent marathonloft and introduced “Limburg blood” in their breedinglofts, resulting in a booster in performances and winning over 30x times 1st NPO or 1st National…!
