NICO “Mister Noël Peiren” KONIJN living in Alkmaar is among the best Marathon fanciers in the Province Noord-Holland and has built a top loft based on Noël Peiren pigeons, the maestro from Zedelgem (Be), many directly and many via Kweekcentrum Friesland from Simon Kuipers & Gerben van Loon. Nico is 64 and “pensionado” and enjoys the pigeonsport and his pigeons “to the max” in his very colorful pigeon paradise of his backyard full with plants and flowers. But this ex entrepreneur is a very passionate marathon fancier in heart and soul and is among the champions since the nineties !
Nico came to Noël Peiren in a rather unusual way. One day a young pigeon from Noël Peiren walked into Nico’s loft. When the youngsters from this pigeon started performing well, Nico wanted to obtain more from Noël Peiren, but was repeatedly told there were none available. After a good three years of perseverance, he was told a hen would be available late in the year. So after three years, Nico was able to obtain a hen in the autumn, which Noël had bred to pair with the pigeon Nico already had since a few years. Since then, 5 years ago, a friendship between the two men has developed and Nico visits Noel every year and always returns home with a new treasure from Noël’s best breeders !

The sire of “TIJMEN” is the “Barcelona Peiren 302” from Kweekcentrum Friesland, bred from two direct Noël Peiren pigeons. This pigeon has proven to be a fantastic breeder for Nico Konijn, as several other good pigeons already share his genes! A half-brother of “TIJMEN” (same sire) won the 1st Provincial NPO and 17th National St Vincent 10,326 pigeons in 2024! Nico obtained several good pigeons from Simon Kuipers. The dam of “TIJMEN” is a direct Noël Peiren, the first one he obtained from Noël in 2020.
